Around 11.00 pm on March 29 of the year of our Lord 2024, Good Friday,
FATHER MARIO RICCIATELLI, TOR
completed his earthly journey in the hospital of Civitanova Marche (MC), where he was hospitalized due to complications resulting from an accident.
Mario was born in Mogliano (MC) on April 28, 1944 to Remo and Anna Ilari. He received Baptism on May 2 of the same year in the local parish of S. Maria and the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 19, 1952.
According to the documents of the provincial Tabularium, he began the year of novitiate on 17 September 1961, wearing the habit in the convent of S. Ginesio (MC) and made his first religious profession on 30 September 1962, in front of the altar of Virgin of Peace in Massa Martana (PG), in the hands of the Provincial Minister Fr. Gabriele Andreozzi. On September 8, 1968 he made his Solemn Profession in the paternal house of Saint Francis of Assisi, in the hands of the Provincial Minister, Fr. Antonio Giancamilli.
He was ordained a priest in Rome on March 14, 1970.
He obtained a licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University.
From 1970 to 1972, he was in our convent in Milan, with pastoral roles in the local area
parish. From 1972 to 1979, he lived in the convent of Assisi and held the roles of Rector and Parish Priest in the Diocese. From 1979 to 1983, he was a member of the convent of Belforte del Chienti (MC), as well as parish priest of the church of S. Pietro Apostolo. From 1983 to 2003, he resided in our convent in Francavilla d’Ete (FM), where over the years he held the positions of Bursar, Local Minister and Vicar of the Fraternity. In the four-year period 1999-2003, he was Provincial Definitor. In 2003, he was transferred to the convent of San Ginesio (MC), his last destination, as Vicar of the Fraternity, Bursar and Parish Vicar of the Parish of the SS. Announced in San Ginesio. Since 2015, he has been parish priest of the Parish of San Michele Arcangelo in Passo San Ginesio (MC).
Fr. Mario had a shy character that hid a profound sensitivity, with which he knew how to take care of the needs of his brothers and the people to whom his apostolate was aimed. He was a tireless worker and always took care of the maintenance of the places where he lived and worked. An accident that occurred while he was taking care of the church of San Michele Arcangelo left him incapacitated for five months, until the complications that led to his death.
His funeral was celebrated on April 2, 2024 in the same church of S. Michele Arcangelo and was presided over by Fr. Paolo Benanti, Provincial Minister. Many confreres and some members of the local clergy concelebrated, in the moved and grateful presence of his loved ones, including his brother Vincenzo and his nephews Sante and Maria Luisa, friends, parishioners and many who were able to benefit from his ministry.
Fr Mario rests together with other brothers in the cemetery of Francavilla d’Ete.
