Br. Jaume Campins Pons, was born on December 25, 1936 in Lloseta, Mallorca. Son of +Calixto Campins Ramón and +Bárbara Pons Ripoll. He was baptized on December 26, 1936 and confirmed on May 10, 1939.

He received the Franciscan habit on August 30, 1953 and, after the year of Novitiate, he made his temporary Profession on September 15, 1954. On December 29, 1957 he made his solemn Profession in La Portiúncula.

In 1954, he was assigned to La Porciúncula as a cook until 1959 when he was assigned to Artà as a cook and sacristan. In the Congregation of 1961, he was assigned to Palma as a cook, where he remained for 16 years, until, in the Congregation of 1977, his destination was the “Raimundo Lulio” School in Madrid, where he remained for 16 more years. There he was in charge of managing the school’s kitchen and cleaning staff. There he worked a lot and interacted with the then APA, creating a beautiful family atmosphere. In 1993 he joined the Fraternity of Palma as a nurse.

In the Congregation of 1997, he was assigned to the Fraternity of Inca and in 2001 to the Fraternity of Palma, where he resided for eight years. In 2009, he returned to the Fraternity of San Francisco de Inca as Sacristan and, in 2013, he was assigned to the fraternity of La Porciúncula as a gardener and infirmary assistant.

In all his assignments he was distinguished by his tireless dedication and good manners in all the tasks entrusted to him. His brothers were always served with dedication and affection.

In recent years, due to his diabetes, he suffered a medical condition that affected the blood flow to his right leg, and which caused him to have to undergo surgery with the amputation of his fingers and to have to be cared for in all his needs.

At the beginning of April, he was admitted and after a new operation he remained in the hospital until Wednesday, April 24. With the “discharge report” signed, he fell asleep at dawn and that is how Sister Death found him, in the hospital room of Son Espases.

The wake took place on Thursday the 25th at the Son Valentí cemetery in Palma de Mallorca where he was buried the next day in the pantheon of the Franciscan community. The funeral was held on Thursday the 25th in the Church of the Porziuncola in Palma de Mallorca, where he lived, presided over by the Provincial Minister, Rev. Fr. Manuel Romero Jiménez, TOR.

The entire Porziuncula fraternity, the nursing staff, his nephew Fr. Miquel Ramón Campins and his family thank God for him and wish that his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
