Br. Nduduzo Urban Luthuli, TOR, a member of the Franciscan Third Order Regular of St. Joseph’s Vice Province, South Africa, passed away peacefully on 14 January 2026. He was born on 26 May 1969 at Ezimpondweni in the Ndwedwe area, the son of Bonokwakhe Johannes Luthuli and Gloria Luthuli. He completed his primary education at Ezimpondweni Primary School, attended Uyikhulu Secondary School, and finished his high school education at Mshiyane High School.
He joined the Franciscan Third Order Regular on 19 March 2007, made his First Profession on 10 January 2009, and made his Solemn Profession on 10 January 2015. As a lay friar, Br. Nduduzo served the Vice Province faithfully, especially through his assistance in the farming apostolate. In obedience, he was assigned to and worked in the following communities: St. Anthony Friary, St. Joseph Friary and Phemba Friary.
He suffered a stroke on 29 October 2025 and thereafter peacefully passed away on 14 January 2026. The funeral Mass was celebrated on 17 January 2026 at St. Joseph’s Friary, South Africa. The principal celebrant was Very Rev. Fr. Paulus, TOR, Minister Provincial of St. Joseph’s Vice Province, South Africa. All the friars of the Vice Province were present, along with Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Lehman, TOR, Minister Provincial of the Province of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, USA.
