Fr. Miguel Ángel Campos García

August 3, 1972 – January 2, 2021
Vice Province of Holy Mary of Guadalupe, Mexico

On January 2, 2021, Father Miguel Ángel Campos García, TOR, was visited by Sister Death.  He suffered a heart attack in his room, after an acute health crisis caused by his narcolepsy and diabetes, diseases that had seriously affected his well-being for a long time.

Fr. Miguel Ángel was the son of Francisco Campos and Juanita García, an exemplary marriage and a committed family close to the parish of Los Santos Reyes, of our Vice-Province of Holy Mary of Guadalupe. He was born on August 3, 1972, in Mexico City, and studied graphic design, which gave him the opportunity to show his enormous artistic talent through drawing and painting.  His skill was particularly demonstrated in a painting he made at the aforementioned parish of Los Santos Reyes. There he also painted the 15 Stations of the Via Crucis, a painting of Saint Francis located in the sacristy, and other paintings that are part of his prodigious work. This precious legacy is a testament to his generosity and creativity.

Our brother entered the novitiate on July 7, 2002 and made his first profession on July 6, 2003 in the Convent of Our Lady of the Angels, in Atizapán de Zaragoza, Edo. of Mex. He made his solemn profession on July 1, 2007 in the parish of La Divina Providencia, in Colonia del Valle, Mexico City. His diaconate ordination took place on September 18, 2007, in the parish of Los Santos Reyes. He was ordained a priest on May 25, 2008, along with four other religious brothers, at the parish of La Divina Providencia, in Colonia del Valle. He was assigned to the parish-convent ofSan Felipe de Jesús, in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, and there he served as parish priest for two periods. While in office, death came upon him.

Fray Miguel Ángel was an eminently cheerful man, with a splendid sense of humor and who dealt with every situation adequately and always with great hope and maturity. Living with him meant living with a generous, simple, pleasant, open, authentic brother. God, in him, spoke to us of a luminous, transforming brotherhood, because he was a great brother who always granted respect, consideration and affection.

The parish community of San Felipe de Jesús, to which he dedicated practically all his priestly ministry, said goodbye to him with deep sorrow, at the funeral Mass, celebrated on January 2, 2021 and presided by Father Guadalupe Antonio Hernández Huerta, TOR, local minister of that fraternity and novice master. Father Carlos Parra Rubio, TOR, bursar and vicar, concelebrated and the four novices participated.

His body was transferred to Mexico City, where another funeral Mass was celebrated in his memory, presided over by the Minister Provincial, Father Mauricio Alarcón Martínez, TOR, at which some brothers and close relatives of Father Miguel also participated. His remains were cremated and will be buried on January 14 in his parish of origin.
