Biography

Fr. Amando Trujillo Cano was born on May 22, 1962 in Mexico City. He professed his first vows in the Third Regular Order of San Francisco on October 4, 1982. On August 20, 1988, he was ordained priest. He studied Philosophy from 1982 to 1984 and completed a degree in Theology at the Intercontinental University, in Mexico City, from 1984 to 1989. In Mexico he served in various services: parish ministry, formator, Justice and Peace delegate, youth ministry, missions, etc. From 1993 to 2005 he worked in Texas, USA in the parish pastoral, vocational promotion, formation, social ministry, etc. He was Provincial Minister of the Vice Province of Santa María de Guadalupe from 2005 to 2007.

At the General Chapter of 2007 he was elected General Councilor and was subsequently named Assistant General for the Secular Franciscan Order and Franciscan Youth. In 2016 he obtained a Licentiate in Theology from the Pontifical University Antonianum, in Rome, specializing in Spiritual Theology. His Thesis was entitled: “The states of Christian life in the Blaquerna de Raimundo Lulo”. In the General Chapter of 2013, he was elected Vicar General for the period from 2013 to 2019 term. He was confirmed in his function as Assistant General SFO-YouFra, for the period from 2013 to 2019. Fr. Amando has written various songs and religious hymns.
